URC Worship Ministry

Be a true Christian, is vital to be part of the worship team. We must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that is consistent and growing through prayer, Bible reading, and church fellowship. Leading God’s people into his presence is a serious matter. As Jesus did, we must lead by example and we must reflect His attributes at all times and the fruits of the spirit as mentioned in the bible. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things, there is no law.”  Galatians 5:22-23

Commitment to a Godly Life Style

Worship team members are expected to live a lifestyle that is above reproach, avoiding even the appearance of evil. (I Tim 3). Being a minister, who is up front, adds extra responsibilities because people see us as examples of what a Christian should be like. Therefore, it is imperative that we consider the way we treat each other and carefully guard our hearts against impurities and pride.
It is God’s desire and our desire to see our worship team members living a victorious Christian life, free from bondage. If there are any addictions or issues with which you struggle, please let us know – as a worship leader I’m here to help you, not to judge you.

The following issues should be dealt with before any public ministry position is taken:

  • Alcohol and drug abuse. Sexual immorality

  • Prideful attitude. Anger and rage problems

  • Inability to submit to leadership, gossiping and stirring up strife

  • An unbiblical lifestyle

General Guidelines

Be a committed Christian, church attendee, and tither. After joining the worship team, you will not be able to play on stage; until after a 2 month trial period consisting on practicing and regular URC church attendance. We must be spiritually prepared to minister because it has a direct reflection in the effectiveness as a worship team. Growing spiritually, it’s important on an individual basis as it is to the team. As a leadership ministry, we need to be committed to maturing in Christ.

Commitment to “flowing” with the team more than individual expertise. Our musical goal is the ability to “flow” in the Spirit. We need to look at our team not as a collection of separate musicians but as a single unit with the purpose of encountering God’s presence. Our heart’s attitude should not be to shine forth our own technical skill, but to use that skill to enhance the team as a whole.

Being musically prepared is crucial, we need to work at our instrumental and/or vocal ability to become the very best we can be. Being ready to play during service allows the team to focus on ministering and reaching Gods presence. Just as our commitment to being a witness for Christ outside of church walls. Should at any time during your involvement in the music ministry and/or worship team you feel that your personal life is not reflecting what we are about or reflect Christ, you voluntarily should step down so that His name and work would not be publicly mocked.
